about me

Born and raised in the city with the highest elderly population in Brazil, Luíza had only her imaginary friends to play with. Lucky she could turn it into a career.

Luíza Fazio is a Brazilian screenwriter and an advocate for female, queer, and latinx voices. She was recognized in the 2022 Forbes Brazil 30 Under 30 list as a distinct talent within her field.

Luíza wrote Sintonia, the critically acclaimed and most-watched Netflix Brazil TV series, surpassing titles like Stranger Things and Sex Education, about the bittersweet lives of teenagers in the favelas.

A former journalist, she perfected her screenwriting education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Professional Program in Writing for Television. In her journey as a screenwriter, she wrote Invisible City (season 2 / Netflix), created by Carlos Saldanha (Oscar-nominated director) and number one in over 40 countries; the Amazon Prime thriller series Veredict (2022); the docu-series LEXA (Globoplay / 2021) and the comedies Carenteners (Warner / 2020) and Samantha! (Netflix / 2018).

For three years she worked as an in-house writer at LB Entertainment, a two-time International Emmy nominee production company known for developing projects for HBO, Turner, Endemol, among other networks.

After a nomination by the U.S. Embassy in Brazil, Luíza attended the prestigious artistic residency International Writing Program (IWP) at the University of Iowa, which since 1967 reunites yearly 35 writers from all over the world.

At the age of 16, Luíza published O Laboratório do Escritor (The Writer’s Lab / 2010), a short story collection funded by the São Paulo State Department of Culture.

Luíza believes that a single great story can change the world.
Even if it’s one person at a time.
